Ch-Ch-Changes

This summer has been a time of transition. With my amazing husband’s encouragement and support, I quit my established career to pursue my dreams. I like to call it my quarter-life-crisis…and it happened right on time, just months after my 25th birthday.

I had the most supportive and encouraging colleagues when I worked in international education, and leaving them is what made this move so bittersweet. I miss them dearly, but I knew in my heart that I needed to pursue this dream. If not now, then when?

So on August 22nd I handed in my office key, put my bamboo plant in my car’s cup holder and sat my cardboard box of personal items (I know…how clichΓ©!) on my backseat. It’s still so strange to not head to the office every morning. I have a feeling one sleepy morning I may accidentally get in my car just out of habit!

Au revoir!
Au revoir!

Now that I’ve wrapped up my previous career, I’m focusing all of my energy on becoming the best yoga instructor I can possibly be. That’s right – I’m in a 200 Hour Alliance Certified Training Program with Yoga By Degrees! In addition to following this dream, I also plan on opening an Etsy store to showcase my paintings and drawings.

With all of these changes I didn’t have much time to blog, but now that my plan is in motion blogging will be one of my priorities. I’ve really missed writing and reading everyone’s posts. The blogging community is so amazing, and I’ve missed you all!

In addition to studying yoga and creating art – here’s what I’m most looking forward to in the coming months (with posts to accompany of course!):

  • Having the time to focus on healthy cooking/eating with a focusΒ onΒ whole foods with very little meat (and without dairy…eventually). So far I’ve made Red Lentil Chili, which was a resounding success!
Red Lentil Chili - I used the Forks Over Knives recipe...yum!!

  • Training Millie Pup. She’s growing like a weed! She’s 8 months old and couldn’t be any cuter. But we’ve definitely entered the “teenage” years (“What? You’re calling my name? I’ll just pretend I didn’t hear you and walk the other way“…oh joy!). One day I want her to be certified to visit schools and hospitals, so her training will definitely take a front seat in the coming months, which I’m really excited to experience with her!
Millie just graduated from her Manners class. They recommend repeating the class 2x or 3x before moving onto more advanced classes though. Poor Millie, already being held back in school!

Poor Millie, already being held back in school! Maybe after the next class she won’t try to eat her diploma in her “graduation” picture.
  • Marathon training! My full marathon is next month…it seems so surreal! I walk Millie multiple times per day, and sometimes she joins me on my training runs. I love running with my pup dog!
I saw this on my Facebook feed and immediately texted it to Hubs. I kind of want to get it for him for the marathon...

Here’s to new beginnings and following your dreams. My new mantra is “Live by Design, Not Default” – which coincidentally was the title of my very first RWP blog post. I think all of this was in the back of my mind even back then!

I'm ready to take on the world with my new hairdo!
