Family Photoshoot

Hubs and I had the most amazing engagement photoshoot in 2012 with Kate Miller Photography. Kate and her husband Joel shoot together in a vintage-inspired, artistic style. We absolutely love Kate and Joel and would’ve had them photograph our wedding in a heartbeat had we been married locally in IL and not across the country in PA! Ever since our first photoshoot with them I’ve been hoping for a reason to get back together…

We loved being photographed in a local Forest Preserve, since we were engaged in one!

I’m a big fan of family photos. I’ve always loved visiting homes and seeing years of family photos on display. I told Hubs early on that we’re definitely going to be one of those families. While our family might be small right now, we wanted to capture this special time while Millie Pup is still little.

Out little family. I was surprised that Millie cooperated and sat still for some photos!

So before my departure in May we met Kate and Joel at the St. James Farm Forest Preserve for a 30 minutes photoshoot with the three of us – Hubs, Pup and me. We were blessed with beautiful weather and had the most fantastic time. Kate and Joel make you feel comfortable in front of the camera, and before we knew it we were all talking like old friends as we discovered different places to shoot.

Millie Pup had her first grooming appointment the day before the shoot so her coat was looking good. Of course the night after the shoot it poured and she rolled around in the mud, but it was nice while it lasted!

We have a very inquisitive puppy. She's such a ham...loves being in front of the camera!

It was a gorgeous day, and we had so much fun. I hope you can tell!

Millie is a little sweetie. I love that she’s looking up at us in this shot…although she probably just wants another treat. Ha!

Silly pup dog!

Hubs and I met playing Ultimate Frisbee at Gettysburg College. How appropriate then that Millie LOVES to frizz-the-b!

We were psyched when Kate and Joel were open to us ending the photoshoot with a quick round of Frisbee. Millie will run herself ragged chasing the Frisbee between the two of us. We call it the “Puppy Shuttle Run.” The best part is that she doesn’t even need to grab the disc, she’s content just to follow it back and forth. #Winning #TiredPuppy

I'm so glad we have a pup that likes to run! Otherwise RunWithPup would be a little bit of a misnomer.

Then we switched it up and threw the Frisbee for Millie to retrieve. While she’s a Labrador and is supposed to be a retriever, she’s not very interested in tennis balls. However, throw a Frisbee for this pup and she’ll run it down and bring it back every time. Gosh I love this pup!

We call her back by saying, "Pup, pup, pup, pup"
We call her back by saying, “Pup, pup, pup, pup” although she always returns on her own without our encouragement – yes!

Thank you for a great shoot, Kate and Joel! Check out their Facebook page if you need an amazing photography team for your big day or special occasion!
