April Flashback

Is it just me, or did April fly by?

I didn’t run as much as I’d planned this month, but I’m still happy with my overall performance. I’d originally had a half marathon planned for May 18th and another in early June, but I’m going to be traveling from mid-May to mid-June for work, which derailed my plans for my two spring half marathons. I’m really excited for this professional opportunity (and wouldn’t trade it for anything!), but it’s restructuring my race schedule a bit. This weekend my plan is to rework my upcoming runs/schedule – with the marathon in October ultimately in mind!

In April I ran 19 of 30 days, completed two runs for the 14 in 2014 Challenge and started bringing Millie Pup on some of my shorter runs (nothing more than 2 miles). All in all a good month!

In May I will focus on cross-training regularly (preventative measures, I don’t want sore hip flexors again), completing a long run each weekend (~8 miles) and continuing to work on Pup’s walking/running manners. May should be an exciting month with traveling, a new puppy class with Millie and warmer weather on the horizon!

  1. Great, great goals and you can do it!!! Longer weekend runs and cross training sounds like a fabulous addition to your schedule!! You’ve had a wonderful April, though!!! You should be very proud! You’re a very hard worker! XOXO!

  2. I agree, April zoomed right by! May is here and the good weather is gently bumping out the cold, damp days of April. May looks to be a very exciting (and busy) month for you!

    1. I’m so glad the warmer weather is starting to be the norm instead of the exception 🙂 May should definitely be a good one, and I’m hope it’s equally exciting for you!

  3. Sounds like a good month for you!
    Running wise, I don’t have races for a while now, so I’m planning on keeping May easy in terms of effort.
    I really want to make this a month to enjoy my family and mentally relax.
